Carnitas La Michoacana

Carnitas and chicharrón are good. Better to go during the week. Be patient on weekends, you may have to wait a lot longer if you’re dining in.

Do not snooze on this place. The carnitas are as good as it gets. Every last bit is soft and buttery, make sure to get some pork belly chopped in the mix (chef's kiss)! They have dine in or roll out with a couple of pounds, make sure you get a pack of their hand made tortillas, already piping hot. These are key to elevating the taco game. The chicharron is nice and with a chip like crispness, I brought a pound home to toss with some salsa Verde (chef's kiss yet again). Great family friendly atmosphere and service. Street parking available. Highly recommend for your party needs as well.

Great food. Chicharon is the best I've ever had. I drive over 2hrs every month just to get it. Go get you some!

Hands down my favorite carnitas in Chicago, and I've tried at least 4 of the well-known ones and about a dozen altogether. Details: The carnitas are as fresh as it gets- they pull what you want right out of the hot cauldron and chop them to your liking right in front of you! Since they're swimming in their wonderful meat juices up until you pick your cuts, you get succulent, juicy pieces of meat that are not only cooked to perfection- but they are so flavorful they'll tantalize your taste buds and dance all over even the most sophisticated of palates Large, hand-made tortillas Salsas are ON POINT. Freshly made and housed in easy to squirt containers. The red is spicier than the green, but not so much that it makes you wonder "WHY?!". Both are superbly flavorful and will easily please most preferences Fresh, crunchy chips that are usually warm and are provided for free Cilantro and onion that are (surprise) fresh, crunchy, and flavorful Their "agua de guayaba" actually has a teeny bit of fruit seeds in it- no powder water here!!!! The coffee here is good and I'm fairly certain there's a hint of cinnamon in it. It's not comparable to "Intelligentsia" or other top-tier cafe level coffee, but it's miles ahead of what most restaurants serve The fact that they run out of carnitas EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. should speak for itself BONUS---The menudo here is the only one that I've ever ordered anywhere more than once. They don't cheap out on the type of meat like most places- here they actually put honeycomb tripe in it! DO YOUR LIFE A FAVOR AND COME TRY THESE CARNITAS, YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!!!!!!
